Differential scanning calorimetry
Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) measures the amount of energy (heat) absorbed or released by a sample as it is heated, cooled or held at constant temperature. DSC also performs precise temperature measurements. Our PerkinElmer Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC 7) operates in the temperature range from –150 °C to 500 °C in nitrogen atmosphere.
For good resolution and high sensitivity, the sample is treated in a small, lower mass furnace, which is able to heat up and cool down rapidly, enabling rapid cycling if desired.
