Expansion of segregation devices

Segregation of powders may severely affect the quality of intermediate and final products.

Besides the two existing standard test methods, Delft Solids Solutions now has available a new prototype for testing the segregation tendency of very small amounts of powder blends in line with existing literature. The test is very well applicable for costly powders e.g. pharmaceuticals but also for food and feed powders and supplements, e.g. when only a minor amount of sample in available.

The technique is based on horizontal and vertical mechanical vibrations, which causes rolling, sliding, bouncing, percolation, and  lateral and transverse movement of the particles. Besides quantification of the segregation tendency based on density and particle size, segregated lots will be available for further physical or chemical assay.
