Solids
To
determine the composition of a solid material INAA and XRF are at
your disposal. Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis (INAA) gives
an accurate description of the elementary composition of the sample,
while X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) is more useful for a quick, but less
accurate scan. Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Thermogravimetry
(TGA) detect the changes, which occur in a sample as it is heated
or cooled under fixed conditions. TGA detects mass changes while
the DSC measures enthalpy changes.
