In 2025 we will put a new format of the greatly-attended “Powders & Granules – Physical Properties and Behaviour” on the agenda. This course we have organized since 2015 with a frequency of one in every two years. After ten years it is now time to re-design the course.
In close connection with the Particle Characterization course that is typically held the follow-up year, the Powders & Granules course was a nice blend of both particle technology unit operations and the behaviour of powders. We have successfully organized this course 7 times and welcomed over 120 participants in the preceding editions. Besides, we have also delivered various customized in-company courses based on this course. Not only in the Netherlands, but such in-company edition was also taught abroad several times .
However, the number of disciplines has greatly expanded and sufficient depth and focus on each of the themes should remain achievable. Therefore, in the new format of this open course we have split these two themes in two separate courses.
The first new edition is a two-day course entitled “Powders & Granules – Processes and Unit Operations” whereas the second edition is “Powders & Granules – Characteristics and Powder Behaviour”, also covering two days.
The first course will be organized in November 2025 and deals with processes and unit operations such as mixing, milling, granulation, coating, tableting, storage, and transport.
The second course is taught in March 2026 and covers powder behaviour like caking, stickiness, segregation, powder flow, dustiness and electrostatic charging and powder conductivity closely associated with powder characteristics.
