Why the course “Safety in chemical-analytical laboratories”?
Do you expect that there is room for improvement in safety in your laboratory? This course will introduce you to all aspects, regulations, practical situations and points of interest involved. In this way you will increase and maintain safety in your daily work in the laboratory.
For whom is this course intended?
This course is of interest to (principal) analysts, employees and heads of analytical and chemical laboratories. You think and work at a minimum MBO level. You want to be able to assess workplace risks yourself and know what to do to control these risks. This course is also suitable if you work in an environmental laboratory, in the food and beverage industry, chemical industry or clinical chemistry.

The following topics will be covered divided over the day.
Morning:
The morning portion of this course focuses on risk assessment and control. This will cover the following designs:
Risks in laboratories.
Risk assessment and risk management
Glassware; Storage and waste collection of chemicals
Risk assessment of chemicals; legislation labeling and labeling
Material safety data sheets; cryogenics and gas cylinders
Reading and interpreting safety information
Afternoon:
The afternoon will focus on working safely in the laboratory. This includes:
Use of fume hoods and emergency facilities
Life cycle approach; DQ, IQ, OQ, PQ
Attention for solving practical bottlenecks
Attention to personal protective equipment (BPMs) and emergencies.
Methodology
You will receive lectures on the main safety risks present in laboratories. Using practical exercises, you will learn to assess the risks in more detail, with an emphasis on chemicals.
Outcome
Outcome
After the course, you will be able to assess the activities in your workplace for a variety of safety aspects. You will also know how to assess these aspects against internal and external regulations. In addition, you can formulate measures to control these risks. Where you are unable to take measures yourself, you will know what possibilities there are for bringing in external help. You are now able to work properly and safely in your own laboratory!

After successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of participation.
